Saint Jude History

St. Jude Catholic School opened in 1985 and is fully accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference and recognized by the State of Florida. We serve children from ages 3 – 14.

Saint Jude School has its own Early Learning Center for children who are either 3 or 4 by September 1st. We are proud to offer a "Wrap-around" VPK program to our four year old children and families. We have consecutively maintained a safe, qualified and educational learning program since 2009. We believe we stand among the best early education programs in the Boca Raton area.

There are 2 classes per grade Pre-K through 3, with approximately 25 students in each class.  Grades 4 and 5 have approximately 28 students per class. At this time we have two classes in most middle school grades. All students in grades Pre-K - 8 are accepted on a 90-day probationary basis.

All full-time teachers in grades K-8 are Florida State certified with Professional Certificates or are in the process of completing requirements. A teacher assistant is assigned to Early Learning Classes which come close to or exceed state requirements. In any other situation, assistance is provided when needed.

The curriculum St. Jude School uses is that which is set forth by the Diocese of Palm Beach and is used in all the Catholic elementary schools throughout our area. We operate using the Florida Sunshine Standards as well as a selected focus on the National Common Core Standards.

In addition to the regular curriculum, physical education, music, art, computer and media are also included for each grade. Spanish is offered in Pre-K through 8th grade.

Religious instruction is a top priority for us and we review and revise continuously. We work closely with the Diocese and the printed goals for Vision 2020. All classes receive religious instruction every day, and every month all students attend First Friday Liturgy at 8:00 a.m., different grade levels rotate preparing the liturgy each month.

Students receive the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Eucharist in 2nd grade and Confirmation in 9th grade.

Students in grades 2 through 8 take National Standardized tests.

The following after-school sports are offered in grades 5-8: Boys’ baseball; girls’ softball, volleyball and cheer-leading; boys’ and girls’ flag football soccer, basketball and tennis.

Children have the opportunity to join the school band, school chorus and church choir with lessons being held after school.

St. Jude Catholic School participates in spelling bees, geography bees, art exhibits and holiday music performances.

The school offers a hot lunch program which provides hot, healthy and varied options. All students in grades K - 8 eat lunch daily in Mount Carmel Hall, our newly completed center.  Children may purchase lunch or bring their lunch from home.

St. Jude Parish/School has an active Advisory Board, Finance Board and Home & School Association. All families are expected to support our annual raffle and are encouraged to become involved in school activities and events sponsored by the Home & School Association.
